The catalogues for this event are supposed to be published this weekend. As soon as I get my hands on one, I'll update the Wastekeep site and post to this forum as well, so that you have all of the up-to-the-minute information!! For now, though, the link supplied above gives a good idea of what to expect. ~~luaithrenn, out here in Wastekeep (NOT the autocrat of this event, just someone who helped put the classes together) |

Introduction to the constabulary for new constables and a splendid refresher for those who haven't served lately. This course expores the origins of the constable in period. It will teach what services the constabulary provides in the SCA. It will teach what services they DO NOT provide. What authority does a constable have and where does it come from? The course will prepare an individual for their tour as a roving patrol, assistant at gate, basics of Lost and Found, basic courtesy and proper attitude, rules and laws effecting the SCA; how the job is done, basic equipment needed, clothing needed, communications, radio protocols, and the chain of command; how to write a basic incident report, how and when to file periodic reports, and a few good tales of what you may encounter as a Constable.

Class: CONSTABULARY 102 Instructor SCA Name: Baroness Olivia Visconti
Length: 2 Hours Minimum Attendance: 3 Maximum Attendance: 15
A dose of reality... Not meant for the faint of heart. This course will deal with some of the uglier aspects of what it means to be a Constable. This is designed to be an advanced course, intended for the more senior Constables that will take positions of leadership. Who really has what authority? What is required to be the Constable-in-Charge (CIC) at a major event? We will delve into how onw writes a constabulary plan and why that is important. We will get into when the substance really hits the fan. How do you handle it? How has it been handled in the past? What was learned? What should always be done? What should never be done?
Dealing with mundane authorities when there is a serious situation will be discussed. Investigations and monitoring of seriously dangerous individuals will be discussed, as well as how to efficiently have a problem person removed from the site.
Constabulary Manual is recommended for the above class and is available on line or through the Kingdom Stock Clerk. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No, but the 2 motels are within walking distance of the site and I think we're paying something like $35 per night.

As Melusine says, no camping, but if you need crash space and don't want to go the hotel route, you might want to contact the autocrat. Contact her by telephone (listed in copy above) as she doesn't do email very well. There may be some crash space available in the barony.

Thanks to all who came and made the Rapier Ithra a success once again! The feedback that I've gotten thus far is that the classes were very well received (Mistress Melusine's classes were a huge hit!) and that folks are already looking forward to next year.
A very special thank you to HL Amberly Sylvanus, Cadet to Dona Bridgett, for filling in with a fighting class at the last minute. You truly went above and beyond the call of duty, and the Barony is in your debt
So what classes would folks like to see for next year???
