Below are the notes i made while going throught the aug 21st draft. You will note that I've tried to keep each item separate, pls keep your responses of in a similar format. Quotes are italicized.
1.1.1.slap ...why isn't it called chop anymore?
1.4. A valid blow to the foot or leg will disable the leg. a. For heavy rapier, the fighter must then fight kneeling or sitting. b. Kneeling or sitting fighters may not rise up off of the ground or their own feet. c. In melee, the legged fighter may re-orient to face the action.
For both legs disabled fighter, when kneeling, must the seat of the fighter be touching their heels? What does a light rapier do when legged? Is only one leg affected for a light rapier?
1.9.8 rbg typo should be pluralized.
1.9.5 Killing from behind is allowed if it has been announced beforehand by the RMIC
referring to DFB? is DFB allowed as the default?
2.3.6.c impromper use of bullet fonts
2.4.1.a Only simulators approved for rapier may be used for rapier practices, tourneys, or melees.
Simulator is not in the definitions, one could assume fibreglass is a cheap simulation of steel. But as I saw later on, fibreglass was not mentioned as an approved simulator.
2.4.5.a The striking surface of the cap must be flat and at least 3/8" in diameter.
Is this a typo? normal 7/16 not 3/8, a whole 1/16th smaller.
2.4.9 The length of a steel dagger blade from guard to tip may not exceed 18 inches (47 cm).
Is everyone going to have to shorten their daggers now? (normal is 20")
2.5. Approved Simulators The table below lists the simulators that have been approved for Rapier Combat in An Tir. Any other blade simulator than what is listed below cannot be used at official practices or events.
fibreglass was not amongst them, not even for practices. so thats it then...can't even use them for pell practice.
I own steel and I do not support this much of a drastic change. As fibre glass blades are not a safety violation, it is merely cosmetic. Thus being said, I may support steel only events/tourneys, or even advanced practices run by guest coaches. But when it comes to an uncarded fighter, I do not support such a financial cost. I would be more supportive after they have at least purchased their own armor. Thus taking care of the safety prior to the cosmetic while still retaining the ability to practice and to see how far they would like to take this hobby.
Why can I so easily see in the near future that in order for one to be carded, one MUST own steel? What is after that...copy of receipt with date on it to write on the authorization card perhaps? It would be simpler and those steel-puritans would get their wish. |
